Medicare is Australia’s compulsory national health insurance scheme, where you can visit a general practitioner under a bulk billing scheme for no charge.There are restrictions, in that you are only eligible for immediate urgent treatment, and when requiring hospitalization you are only able to have treatment as a public patient in a public hospital. The migrants who have attained their permanent residence can apply for medicare benefits. Until then they would receive medical treatment under private health insurance.
Private health insurance
Private health insurance is a compulsory requirement for all people working on a temporary business entry (long stay) subclass 457 visa in Australia.
